We have gone through the Christmas season and celebrated the birth of the Savior of the world. We call Him Jesus. Do you know who this historical figure is? I am a writer. A craftsman who uses words to create meaning for you. I am a wordsmith.

Just as a blacksmith creates tools, knives, or horseshoes from black iron or steel, I make phrases and sentences that convey ideas to you. Either you agree with these two thoughts, or you refuse to accept them. I don’t mind if you don’t consider me an author. That hurts neither you nor me.

When you do not accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, it separates you from God. Why should I care? That is between you and your creator, whether you know it or not. I care because God cares.

This is what I believe. I know this is the truth. Acknowledge it or deny it. That is your freewill. He gave it to you just as He gave you life. He is not the one who is lying to you. We have an adversary that does not want us to recognize these facts.

Jehovah created the universe. That includes our world and all the objects we see in the sky. Today, we know some are planets. stars, or wandering bodies. I do not know if there is life on any other planet. We are too far from them to discern that. We’ve tried with the ones closest to us, and nothing is there.

 When They created all of this, we human beings were created. Men and women are made different from other creatures. We are in Their image or likeness. This is where my craftsmanship comes to bear. I need to explain what this means.

God the Father, God the Son, and Holy Spirit are called a trinity. That word originally meant three divine beings that make up a godhead. A supreme ruling force in our universe. That is incorrect. They are a triune being. Do you see the difference in the words? Trinity combines three separate things into one.

Triune takes one and expresses it as three separate forms. Do you understand this? Let me put it this way. Take an egg. Just an ordinary chicken egg. Open the shell, and you have a yellow thing called a yoke, the shell you just broke, and the white or albumen. Those are three individual things with their own names and purposes. Get it? The shell protects the developing chick. The yoke becomes the chick. The egg white feeds the creature as it grows.

Three things, one individual being. That is us as well. Three things that are one person. Does it make sense to you? It does to me. You have a body. You are not a body. You also have a soul and a spirit that reside inside of you. If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord, your spirit is alive. If not, it is dead.

God Said it.  I Believe it.  That Settles it.

On the dashboard of my 1966 Chevy Impala Super Sport, there was a magnet that said, “God Said it. I Believe it. That Settles it.” I put that magnet there in 1974 when the Lord called me to full-time Gospel Ministry. I still believe it.

As I began to start studying the Bible at Southwest Baptist College, I made some decisions about what my world view was. At the time I did not know what a “world view” was. I formed in my head what I believed about God. Then I tried to put it into words. I literally found it in His Word.

I decided that He was the creator of everything. I decided that He and Jesus were the same being and they shared a spirit. I later learned they are a triune being. My grammar check wants me to change that to read triune beings. Grammarly is wrong. There is only one being.

Triune literally means three in one. It is different from a trinity. Trinity is three that become one. Many of the religions of the world that worship multiple gods have a trinity that makes three of their gods into a godhead. This is a syndicate. Kind of like a tribunal of gods. Jehovah God is one entity. The deceiver wants you to believe otherwise.

Jehovah is the only creator of the universe. The concept of multiple universes and different realities is as old as time. That is another lie that we can fall for. The creator of all things made chronological time as well. That is what He said in Genesis. “In the beginning God.”

He designed and executed the existence of everything around us. In that book of beginnings, you see that He said, “Let us make mankind in our own image.” And He did. We are also a triune being. We have a soul, a body, and a spirit like He does.

We call Him Father because His bodily form referred to Him as His Father. We are called crazy when we talk to ourselves, but Jesus showed us it is acceptable to communicate with your soul. You must recognize that you have one. We also need to acknowledge our spirit. He told Nicodemus that he must be born again. That is very confusing. There is a physical birth, but Jesus introduced us to a spiritual birth. Satan was wrong when he told Adam and Eve they would not die. One-third of us is dead when we are born.

Accepting the son of God as our Lord and Savior brings us into His family as His children. We become like God in every sense except we cannot create something from nothing. He teaches us how to recreate ourselves into the image of Him that He wants us to show to the world.

Most of the time I mess that up. I keep trying with each new day that He gives to me. Do you? Are you more like Him than you were yesterday? If not, let’s work on it again tomorrow. Oh, by the way, Jehovah created tomorrows as well. The future, the present, and the past are all part of His creation. Isn’t it wonderful? Every morning you are able to begin again.

Good, Good, Father

My Father is very important to me. The way he loved me in his way. The way he provided for me, my mother, and my three siblings. He was not perfect. He became agree at times. He did not curse but I have heard him cry out in pain when he skinned his knuckles, or the hammer hit his thumb. Usually, there were no recognizable words. I may have heard a dam or two in all my years with him.

Growing up with both my mother and father for over thirty years was a fortunate circumstance for us that you may not have enjoyed. So that you know that our lives were not “Leave it to Beaver” or “Father Knows Best” I will tell you some things that may have occurred in your life.

Dad suffered from mental illness. Mom became so angry with him over what she thought were things he could control that she yelled and threw dishes at him once. Don’t think that the kids were unaware of this problem. He was finally diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was in college. We were not told what had caused it until years later.

With that introduction, I wish to tell you about a perfect Father. Pat Barrett and Anthony Brown wrote the song “Good, Good Father” and Chris Tomlin released it in 2016. He is not the only Christian artist to record it. He was the first to make it a number one hit.

The song begins by talking about the stories that are told about God the Father. Our songwriter speaks of hearing Him speak in the dark of night. The words are encouraging. We are reminded that He has promised we would never be alone.

The second verse talks of those looking for answers in a way that relates to “Desperately Seeking Susan” or “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” Jehovah is the only one who has all the answers for us. He is not surprised at what we need even though we may be.

Our Father’s love is undeniable, unexplainable, and deep. We are not perfect. He is. Jehovah means I am that I am. We call Him the great I am. Jesus said, “I am the way, I am the truth, and I am the life.” He also said. “I am the good shepherd” and I am “The door.”

We are loved by him. The love that He has for us is greater than we expect from ourselves or each other. He is who He is. We are who we are. There is no way for us to be other than us. He always is love. He is always our good, good father. It is who He is.
