The death of the RNC

Research has shown that November 5, 2024, was the last election where any of those elected were members of the Republican Party. Historians for the last few years have tried to find the reasons for this over one-hundred-year-old organization simply falling away like the Whigs, Torreys, and others.

The electorate seems to have been disillusioned by almost all the federal, state, and local candidates. No Republican could gain any office in the next election. The democratic, libertarian, green, and constitutional parties and non-partisan candidates defeated every incumbent. Two years later, no candidate was declared a member of this party.

That could never happen? Ask those who have researched these other parties that died off in the last two hundred years. Did they think that it could happen to them? I do not think so.

Think about why you do not vote for a particular person. If they are not a Republican, they do not receive your vote. Maybe it is the Democrats that you vote for. Or do you decide against anyone in these groups? My Dad said he would never choose a Catholic in 1960. John F. Kennedy was nominated, and he said he would write in Old Yeller Dog. He refused to vote for a Republican.

Kennedy won. He never admitted he voted for him until after the assassination. I heard him tell my mother that he could not believe anyone would kill the man he had voted for.

I am not like my parents. I refuse to vote for anyone for one reason only. I cannot vote for anyone that supports national candidates that should not even be on the ballot. I did not vote for either major candidate in 2016. I believe the republicans nominated Hillary Clinton and the Democrats chose Donald Trump. In 2024, Missouri republicans chose their candidate by a caucus. They are responsible for Trump being on the ballot.

From the first day he was inaugurated, Trump has been violating his oath of office. He declared he would uphold the Constitution of the United States. He has had executive orders overturned or questioned on constitutional grounds.

He has now taken over the District of Columbia police department, even though statistics show that crime is down this year. These are steps to be prepared for Martial Law being declared in 2029 when he is required to vacate the office. His attempt to ignore the Twenty-Second Amendment had failed.

I have never been a partisan voter. I am hard core non-partisan and believe that the only way to solve most of the problems in our election process is to change our nomination process for every elected position. During a national primary, the top three candidates should be placed on the general election ballot. Parties would not even be listed.

My Republican and Democratic friends said they had to give their backing to their candidate. I hope they do not do this again. My votes for all candidates will be based on who is the best qualified for the position. I will vote for very few on the two major party tickets. I hope you will join me.

Lying in politics

You know the old saying, “How can you tell when a politician is lying. His mouth is moving.” Yes, that was a lawyer. I know this is probably a century or more old. Certain people seem predisposed to lying. They do not belong to any one group as we may view them. There are politicians, businesspeople, used car salespeople, and every conceivable profession that will be honest or not.

I can point out a few men and women who are running in the election who have or are openly lying about themselves. We all believe that our opinions about the issues are correct. I will not argue those opinions. I am talking about statements and claims made by these candidates.

One claimed he was not a politician during the first election he ran in. The definition of a politician is one involved in politics. Specifically running for an elected office makes you a politician. He also promised us that he was not and would never be a professional politician. He ran for a second position before his first term was completed. These are two lies.

Check the promises that are being made. Some want you to accept that they will do things that we all want them to. Stating that you want these things accomplished is wonderful. Claiming you can do them the first day you are in the office is a lie. Either they know this is a lie or they are not smart enough to represent us.

Another has been convicted of crimes. This must be part of his strategy to be elected so that he can pardon himself if his appeals fail. Whether or not I think that this candidate is guilty is not the point

I am not telling you their names because the ones I know about are not the only candidates spreading falsehoods. I am sorry if you support these liars. I hope you will look at each candidate you intend to vote for. Remember that the general election is on the fifth of November. Our time is running out to decide how to vote before then.

In Missouri, we will also have many issues on our ballot. My best advice on this is for you to find the bill or amendment as it is written. Do not listen to those who support or oppose any amendment or item. They also seem to not be able to tell the truth. They want you to view their “facts” as true.

I’ll give you a couple of examples. In Missouri where I live, Amendment 3 to our constitution will make all abortions legal. Proponents claim that currently, doctors cannot help women who are having problem pregnancies. Some OBs say this is correct. Others have stated that they continue to care for their patients as they always have. Ladies, ask your doctor what they believe. They are the ones to whom you should listen.

Two other amendments are about gambling. One small city wants its own casino boat, which is legal in this state. They want to change our constitution to allow this. My reading of the original wording of the amendment makes me believe that it will open the door for many more casinos than are currently allowed by our existing statutes. This is Amendment 5 on our ballot.

The other gambling bill is Amendment 2. This will allow sports betting not just at our few casinos, but online. The supporters of this issue claim we will see ten million dollars for our schools in the first five years. The casino owners oppose this and claim our schools will receive nothing. Both gambling proponents are lying. If you want to bet on athletic events or go to a casino, vote for these bills.

Do not believe that our teachers, schools, or students will benefit from taxes on this. Three other times voters have approved gambling that was supposed to benefit not-for-profit organizations or schools and the exorbitant claims were found to be incorrect. I believe those who accept these statements will determine how they were duped within the five years for which the prediction has been made.

Check all the facts. Read the legislation and the claims of the candidates. Those who have been in office should find it easy to verify their claims. The difficult ones are those like our current senior senator who ran for auditor eight years ago on a platform of not being a politician. He failed to complete that term because he won the nomination to oppose a sitting senator who was running for her third term.

Remember that I am a non-partisan voter. I will not vote for a bad candidate when his or her party wants to force me to accept someone who shows themselves to be a liar. I will not accept who you choose. If your party does not nominate a decent candidate, I will find a qualified person elsewhere. This may be the election that more folks who are not Republicrats or Demicans will fill the positions. See you at the polls.

The end of political parties

I have opposed the two-party system for fifty years. If you have wondered why we should eliminate this antiquated system, turn on the news. Our Congress cannot elect a speaker. Apparently, no one can do anything about the gridlock between two factions in one of the parties.

I believe that the voters should contact our congresspersons and tell them that if they have been supporting the man that Trump wants and have lost ten votes already, you want them to get to work or you will recall them.

We elected these men and women to represent us. Stop messing around and get to work. This should be the last term that any of these people serve in congress. If you can’t elect the person that will lead you for the next two years, how can we expect you to get anything else done?

Josh Hawley the senior senator from Missouri announced the end of the Republican Party as it is currently known after the election in November. According to him, this is because of Donald Trump supports certain candidates nationwide. Those that were supported by the former President, failed to be elected. His statement was that independent voters did not approve of these men and women.

For myself, I did not vote for anyone on my ballot that had been endorsed by this treasonous, lying, the former president. Hawley’s statement is opposed to what he was saying two years ago. He still reminds us that he liked many of the things that Trump did as President.

It does not surprise me when I think of his election for Missouri’s Attorney General in 2016, where he promised us, he was not a politician and had no aspirations for other offices. Missourians believed him. A majority supported him in his 2018 bid for the Senate.

We are surrounded by liars and incompetence. It isn’t just the Republicans. Even the Democrats don’t seem to be making good choices. Political parties have only one purpose currently. They finance the election of those that toe the party line. I am sick and tired of the Republicrats and Demicans slowing down the process of passing laws.

It has been years since the US budget has been passed for an entire year. We constantly hear about last-minute approval of a stop-gap measure to keep the country from shutting down. We are told that one party doesn’t want to work with the other. Then the two parties have internal disagreements.

We need several things done by the congress, senate, and president. We need term limits, a balanced budget amendment, and a change in the primary process that allows all the voters to choose who will be on the ballot in November. The political parties have seen their day.   

Help me get the word out and remind the congressman from the Missouri seventh district that those first two were campaign promises of his. And the first thing he should propose is that his and the others’ pay should be suspended until the budget is balanced. You think congress is in turmoil now. Wait until he suggests that one.
